The 34 year old Seppelt Drumborg Vineyard in southern Victoria regularly shows exactly what cool-climate cabernet sauvignon is all about. 30 kilometres north west of Portland, it is one of the coolest mainland vineyards. When the grape quality meets the winemakers exacting standards, wines from Drumborg are released under the Individual Vineyard label. Regional Source Drumborg Vineyard, southern Victoria. Vintage Conditions Spring temperature and rainfall were close to normal and perfect weather during flowering gave good berry set. A dry summer led to lower yields and excellent ripeness. Grape Variety Cabernet Sauvignon Maturation 18 months in new French and American oak. Winemaker Comments: Ian McKenzie Colour Vibrant, deep red Nose Typical of classic cool-climate cabernet, this wine has distinctive capsicum and tomato leaf aromas against a background of appealing French oak and sweet berried fruit. Palate The medium bodied palate meets the promise of the bouquet and delivers classy French oak and mocha complexities with nuances of blackcurrant. Fine-grained tannins add to the length and texture. Wine Analysis Alc/Vol: 12.9% Acidity: 6.80g/L pH: 3.39
