TASTING NOTE:

Deep ruby red in colour with purple hues, this wine displays attractive berry and plum aromas integrated with cedar and vanillin oak characters. Ripe, blackberry and chocolate flavours highlight a palate of great concentration and persistence of flavour. This wine’s structure, depth of flavour and soft generous tannins will ensure it gains further flavour complexity and character with careful cellaring to 10 years.

BACKGROUND INFORMATION:

Established in 1893 Leasingham Wines has been an integral part of the Clare Valley for over 100 years. Today, Leasingham’s 300 hectares of vineyards, located to the north and south of Clare, provide the premium fruit, which, along with the winemaking commitment and expertise, enable Leasingham to produce outstanding, award winning, regional wines.

WHAT’S THE DIFFERENCE?:

The renowned dryland Schobers vineyard in South Australia’s Clare Valley produced the Jimmy Watson Trophy winning 1994 Classic Clare Shiraz. A cool, dry ripening season led to vintage yields below average which served to concentrate grape flavours and colour. Following vintage, the wine was matured in new American and French oak for 18 months, followed by a further 18 months maturation in bottle prior to release.
