As the flagship of Tatachilla, Foundation Shiraz represents a commitment to excellence in both viticulture and winemaking. Fruit was individually selected from small vineyards in McLaren Vale, vinified, then aged in American and French oak for 16-18 months. Meticulous barrel selection was carried out to create a wine of great depth and richness. A bouquet of plum and spicy ripe shiraz enhances the robust fruit flavour with fine tannins and great length. Grape Variety: Shiraz Region: McLaren Vale Colour: Deep crimson red with purple hues Bouquet: Full, up front shiraz fruit exhibiting plum and spice characters combines magnificently with the rich American and French oak. Hints of chocolate and earth complexity. Oak Maturation: Stored for 16-18 months in American and French oak prior to release, this wine has been designed to marry the shiraz fruit and oak characters to perfection. Palate: A traditional Australian style. Powerful varietal shiraz characters produce a deceptively velvety mouthfeel. Rich plum fruit, coconut oak and fine grain tannins culminate in a sophisticated structure with plenty of weight. Alcohol: 14%vol Serve: At room temperature with full flavoured red meat dishes - especially good with rack-of-lamb and veal. Cellaring: 5 - 8 years+ |
