1997 STONEWELL SHIRAZ

The best most concentrated Peter Lehmann Shiraz of vintage

Fruit Sources:

Stonewell, Kalimna, Koonunga, Ebenezer and Greenock Districts of the Barossa Valley.

Colour:

Deep garnet with black centre.

Bouquet:

Beautiful intermingling of Shiraz fruit with soft French oak characters and spicy American oak.

Palate:

Voluptuous velvet fruit palate: rich berry with undertones of liquorice, finishing long with fine soft-grained tannins. An exciting wine of great depth, superb structure and generous oak complexity.

Maturation:

Fermented and thence matured for 18 months in new French (64%) and new American hogsheads (36%). Bottled and cellared for a further 3½ years prior to release.

Vintage:

Good early season growth and spring rains, followed by a warmer than average January and February meant, lower yields and wines of great intensity.

Cellaring:

A wine which has all the elements to age gracefully in the cellar for 10 plus years if desired. For those who appreciate the robust richness of a younger wine try it a bit earlier.

Alc/Vol:

14%
