COLOUR: Deep brick red intensity with a ruby colour hue.

BOUQUET: Vibrant nutmeg, clove and cinnamon. These characters are well balanced by the fruit aromas of prunes and boysenberries.

PALATE: Quite muscular and well structured. Oak plays a supporting role, adding sweetness and mouth-feel to the wine.

CELLARING: The wine’s structure and intensity highlights its potential to develop with patient careful ageing 10-15 years.

BACKGROUND INFORMATION:

From the very beginning of the South Australian wine industry the Reynell name has been inextricably linked to it. Upon his arrival to the fledgling colony in 1838, John Reynell established a winery at Reynella Farm, only two years after South Australia was founded. The family winemaking tradition and heritage begun all those years ago, is captured today by these premium wines vintaged from quality McLaren Vale fruit, basket pressed and aged prior to release.

WHAT’S THE DIFFERENCE:

An outstanding McLaren Vale premium wine from low yielding 40 year old vines. Selected parcels of Shiraz were traditionally open fermented then gently basket pressed and matured for a minimum of eighteen months in predominantly American oak. A rich bold wine that is a reflection of the wines of yesteryear in both style and heritage.
