Coriole.com - Tasting Notes 1998 Mary Kathleen The 1998 Mary kathleen is Coriole's premium blend of Cabernet Sauvignon (79%), Merlot (20%) and Cabernet Franc (1%). The fruit for this wine is sourced solely from Coriole's oldnlow yielding vineyards on the hills behind the winery. This wine exhibits a deep cherry/purple colour. The luscious bouquet of ripe berry, floral and spicy aromas with a herbal lift. The palate is rich and full bodied, with intense sweet berry fruit flavours and well balanced oak. It displays great structure with good acid and excellent length. Enjoyable now, this wine will reward with careful cellaring for 5 years or more.

The 1998 Mary Kathleen (normally a blend of 80% Cabernet Sauvignon and 20% Merlot) is a spectacular, opaque purple-colored effort with tremendous aging potential. It offers a promising nose of cassis liqueur, cedar, blackberries, vanilla, and spice. Full-bodied, with fabulous purity and symmetry, and a mouthfilling, palate-staining style without any heaviness or astringency, it requires 1-2 years of cellaring, and should drink well for two decades. Very impressive!
