BACKGROUND INFORMATION:

Eileen Hardy OBE, is fondly remembered as the matriarch of Australia’s best known winemaking and sailing family, In 1973, a wine vintage from the very finest Hardy Shiraz grapes was released in honour of Auntie Eileen’s 80th birthday. Eileen Hardy, the wine, had been born and like the lady herself it was quite extraordinary.

WHAT’S THE DIFFERENCE:

This wine is selected and blended from our finest parcels of Shiraz from the ironstone soils of McLaren Vale, and Padthaway in the South East. The wine was vinified using traditional equipment and techniques including small batch open fermenters and then basket pressed into new and 1 year old French oak barriques for 20 months maturation. Following blending, it was returned to oak prior to bottling and release after 36 months maturation.
