Wine Products » Shiraz :: 1998 Taylors Shiraz
Description Vintaged from Shiraz grapes grown entirely on Taylors Estate vineyards on red earth over limestone (terra rossa) in the Clare Valley of South Australia. Full bodied style with dark cherry fruit flavours and firm tannin structure, with a hint of white pepper. The wine has been oak barrel matured, resulting in a wine exhibiting concentrated Shiraz fruit flavours with balanced tannins. Wine Colour Dark red with vibrant red hues. Wine Bouquet Coconut, vanilla and dark cherry aromas dominate the nose, with secondary smoky char characters from oak fermentation and maturation create a complex bouquet. Wine Palate Rich, sweet plum pudding flavour supported by chalky tannins, which give the wine structure and length throughout the mouth. The aftertaste is persistent with flavours of nutmeg and spice. Suggested Food Matching Pate, Beef and Kangaroo. Critics Notes "Bursting with ripe Shiraz fruit against an American oak background, here's a well balanced middleweight already drinking very well despite its youth. Highly recommended". Paddy Kendler - Herald Sun (Aust) "Deep red/purple. Raw berry fruit and pepper. Amazing sweet fruit flavours with rich overtones of chocolate and licorice. Loads of sweet oak. Great persistent finish. Plenty of potential, all it needs is time."5 Stars- Winestate Magazine (July/ August) 1999 Awards to Date 1999 International Wine Challenge~Gold Medal 1999 Melbourne Wine Show~Class 67~Silver Medal 1999 Brisbane Wine Show~Class 50~Silver Medal 1999 Liquorland (NZ) Top 100 Awards~Silver Medal 1999 Perth Wine Show~Class 34~Silver Medal Cellaring Notes Made for immediate enjoyment but will cellar wel, with careful handling, for up to 10 years, possibly longer. |
