Wine Products » Shiraz :: 1999 Seppelt Chalambar Shiraz
Regional Source Great Western, Bendigo, Grampians, Seymour and Bright regions of Victoria. Vintage Conditions This wine reflects the largely hot, dry 1999 although Spring did bring useful rain. This is 'the 5th wonderful vintage in a row' according to Ian McKenzie, resulting in red wines of concentration and very good ageing potential. Grape Variety Shiraz (Syrah) Maturation Matured in 50% French and 50% American oak hogsheads for 18 months. Winemaker Comments: Ian McKenzie Colour Dark medium red with purple hues. Nose Rich, ripe plummy fruit with underlying blackcurrant and spice integrated with attractive toasty vanillin oak characters. Palate The ripe concentrated plum and berry fruit characters are echoed on the medium bodied palate. The wine has a dense mid palate and a fine elegant tannin structure typical of central Victorian Shiraz. Attractive toasty vanillin oak adds complexity to the palate to produce a wine of structure and length.
