Durif was originally developed in the South of France in the late 1890’s and found its way to Rutherglen in the early part of this century. It has a reputation for making big full bodied styles of wine with good bottle ageing ability.

OAK MATURATION: 14 months in American Oak Barrels 50% new Oak 50% 1 – 2 year old Oak
ALCOHOL: 13.5% by volume
TASTING NOTES: Nice fresh fruit aromas and hint of new oak are Evident on the bouquet. The palate is full with good flavour length and a firm finish. Although pleasant to drink in the year 2001 it is well suited for a further 5 years cellaring.
SERVING SUGGESTIONS: Hearty meat dishes e.g. Rich game meats Blue cheeses. |
