This wine is a special barrel selection which Lindsay Mc Call just had to keep seperate, even from the usual Reserve Pinot Noir.

I was fortunate to recieve a small allocation on release and have baby sat then in our climate controlled storage facility ever since.

WINEMAKING

The fruit is crushed and destemmed into 3 tonne open fermentors with some chilled pre-ferment maceration, some post ferment maceration, partial barrel fermentation, malolactic fermentation and extended lees contact in new French Oak barriques. Within Paringa Estate’s vineyard we have three pinot blocks, each of a different clone. Each clone batch is picked and fermented separately, and kept separate in barrel through until final blending and bottling, after approximately 11 months. It is in the weeks before bottling that the decision is made as to which clones and which barrels will make up our Reserve wine.

WINE NOTES
This is the first  Reserve Pinot Noir that we have released. It is a wine made up of barrels (100% new French oak) which were selected as clearly superior at the time of blending and bottling.

The wine has rich powerful aromas of spice and dark cherry, combined with charry oak secondary barrel ferment mocca/coffee characters that will integrate further to become more Burgundian like with bottle age. On the palate the wine has rich ripe fruit, firm fine grained tannins helping provide excellent texture and length. An outstanding Paringa Pinot that will reward careful cellaring
