The Ingoldby family has been associated with the McLaren Vale wine region for more than 100 years. However, it was not until 1973 that Jim Ingoldby adorned the label of some traditional McLaren Vale wines with the family name. Made from an exceptional vintage, this is the fourth vintage of the Ingoldby Reserve Shiraz. The wine showcases the best characters of both McLaren Vale and of Shiraz itself. The 2002 Ingoldby Golden Vine Reserve Shiraz is a deep crimson almost black in colour. Primary fruit aromas of black cherry and blue berry are layered with complexing chocolate and mocha characters that come from maturation in French and American oak barrels. On the palate there are luscious red berry fruit flavours that combine with soft tannins that support a dark cherry and plum finish.

VITICULTURE

Selected parcels of fruit for this wine were sourced from premium McLaren Vale vineyards that are old and low yielding. The fruit was chosen for its intense colour, flavour and natural tannins.

WINEMAKING

The Shiraz fruit was fermented warm in small roto and open fermenters. After seven days the wine was softly pressed off and all pressings added back. The wine has been matured in new and one year old French and American oak barrels for 20 months prior to bottling.

CELLARING

Can be enjoyed now but will reward from cellaring for up to 10 years.

SUGGESTED FOOD

Enjoy with grilled spiced beef on rosemary skewers
