· The name Outram is in honour of an earl settler in the Valley – a ‘freed convict’ called Jebediah Outram. Legend has it that Jebediah planted the first vines on his property in the Fordwich Valley, around the 1850’s. Details are scant , but they may have been Verdelho – which was first planted in the Hunter around that time .
Outram Estate Hunter Verdelho 2003 This luscious wine has a nose that says: "Drink Me I" Fresh and vibrant with tropical fruit characters it leads into a palate rich with pineapple and passion fruit underscored by a hint of rocket spice. Good length rounds off with a titillating zing and crisp finish. This verdelho is delicious alone but even better with food. It has the stamina to balance hot & spicy dishes, is great with all Asian influenced cuisine and equally, enhances delicate seafood dishes with aplomb.
