·        Situated in the beautiful Fordwich Valley in the ‘Broke-Fordwich Designated Growing Area (DGA) of the Lower Hunter Valley, NSW
·        42 acre sloping block, north west orientated .  Rich volcanic red soil on the upper two thirds, running down to grey alluvial soil fronting the Wollombi Creek.  The former suits red grapes perfectly and the latter especially suits verdelho. The Fordwich Valley microclimate suits merlot and verdelho very well.

·        Harvest in the Valley is usually the first in Oz and occurs in February;

·        The name Outram is in honour of an earl settler in the Valley – a ‘freed convict’ called Jebediah Outram.  Legend has it that Jebediah planted the first vines on his property in the Fordwich Valley, around the 1850’s. Details are scant , but they may have been Verdelho – which was first planted in the Hunter around that time .

Outram Estate Hunter Verdelho 2003

This luscious wine has a nose that says: "Drink Me I"

Fresh and vibrant with tropical fruit characters it leads into a palate rich with pineapple and passion fruit underscored by a hint of rocket spice.

Good length rounds off with a titillating zing and crisp finish. This verdelho is delicious alone but even better with food. It has the stamina to balance hot & spicy dishes, is great with all Asian influenced cuisine and equally, enhances delicate seafood dishes with aplomb.
